The Urban Business Institute empowers entrepreneurs to start, scale, and sustain successful ventures. The Urban Excellence Coach Academy, an ICF-accredited program, not only develops professional coaches who lead with purpose and integrity—it also provides certified coaches who serve our members and the greater community. And the Launch & Lead Nonprofit Leadership Academy prepares social impact founders to build compliant, mission-driven organizations that create measurable change. Together, these academies cultivate a community of growth-minded leaders dedicated to building businesses—and lives—that change the world.

Urban Business Academy

The Urban Business Academy is a 12-week, results-driven program designed to guide aspiring and emerging entrepreneurs through every stage of business launch and development.

 Participants gain practical, step-by-step training on topics such as business planning, branding, marketing, financial management, and growth strategies—paired with real-world insights from experienced business coaches.

Each week builds on the last, combining expert instruction, peer collaboration, and hands-on assignments to ensure concepts turn into action. By the end of the program, graduates leave with a clear business plan, the skills to operate with confidence, and a roadmap for sustainable growth

The Launch & Lead Nonprofit Leadership Development Program is a 12-week intensive designed to equip emerging nonprofit founders and leaders with the skills, strategies, and confidence to build thriving, mission-driven organizations. Participants receive step-by-step guidance through every stage of nonprofit launch and growth—including legal formation, program design, budgeting, strategic planning, and fund development.

Along the way, leaders gain real-world experience hosting Jeffersonian Dinners to engage supporters, culminating in a Demo Day where they pitch their vision to potential funders and partners. The program concludes with a celebratory Launch Event, giving each participant a public platform to introduce their organization, connect with community stakeholders, and step fully into their leadership role.
