About Urban Enterprise
A Network for Inclusive Prosperity
After more than thirty years working in entrepreneurship and community-based economic empowerment, Urban Enterprise founder Kim Anthony began to notice a pattern.
In almost every room, the spotlight seemed to shine on a small group — the ones getting the awards, the headlines, the applause — the already successful, multi-million-dollar businesses everyone else was told to model after. Meanwhile, the majority stood in the audience applauding: hardworking, visionary people doing the work, yet wondering what it would take to “get up there.”
These are the people Urban Enterprise was built for.
Urban Enterprise meets entrepreneurs and nonprofit founders where they really are. We provide the tools, coaching, and community that help people move from potential to prosperity — with dignity, readiness, and real-world strategy.
Through our programs, members gain access to:
- Coaching & Accountability:
Certified business coaches and mentors who guide entrepreneurs step-by-step through growth and sustainability.
- Education & Readiness:
Practical business training, financial literacy, and mindset development to build confidence and capacity.
- Community & Collaboration:
A supportive network of peers, professionals, and partners who believe in collective success.
- Media & Visibility:
Through Urban Enterprise Magazine and The Urban Enterprise Podcast, we tell the stories of the on-the-way-up founders — not just those who’ve already “made it.”
Urban Enterprise exists because prosperity should not be reserved for a chosen few. We believe success is not about perfection or pedigree — it’s about preparedness, persistence, and the right systems of support.
At Urban Enterprise, we’re not selling hype. We’re building foundations.
We’re not just celebrating those who’ve arrived — we’re walking with those who are on their way.
Because every entrepreneur deserves to rise — from their first spark of an idea, all the way to to their own multi-million-dollar success story
.
Our Mission
To expand economic mobility by empowering entrepreneurs and community-based organizations with the knowledge, infrastructure, and strategic support needed to build strong businesses, create jobs, and drive long-term community prosperity.
About the Founder
Kim Anthony is a visionary leader, speaker, and social entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in business development, publishing, and community empowerment.
As the Founder and CEO of Urban Enterprise, she has dedicated her life to transforming lives and communities through entrepreneurship, leadership development, and personal growth.
An emancipated foster youth turned trailblazing CEO, Kim knows firsthand the power of possibility. From deciding to start her first business (by sheer necessity) on a bus bench with $125 to her name -- to leading organizations that have shaped local economies and inspired thousands, she embodies the very spirit of Urban Enterprise.
Her journey has taken her from boardrooms to pulpits, from policy forums to the frontlines of community change. She serves as
Vice President
of the Black Business Association (BBA),
is an alumna of the
Los Angeles African American Women’s Public Policy Institute (LAAAWPPI), the
California Black Women Leadership Institute; and
Leadership Development in Interethnic Relations (LDIR); and founder of multiple ventures under the Urban Excellence and Urban Enterprise banners — all with one goal: to help people rise, rebuild, and realize their full potential.
Today, through Urban Enterprise, Kim Anthony continues her mission to create systems of economic mobility where business becomes a force for good — restoring hope, building wealth, and advancing inclusive prosperity one founder at a time.

About Urban Enterprise
Advancing Economic Mobility
and Inclusive Prosperity
Urban Enterprise was born from a simple but powerful belief: when we invest in the potential of people, we transform entire communities.
In an era where inequality has widened and opportunity often feels reserved for the few, Urban Enterprise stands as a bridge — connecting entrepreneurship, leadership, and personal growth to create pathways of economic mobility for those historically left behind.
We see business not just as a way to earn income, but as a means to generate impact, dignity, and legacy. Our mission is to equip small business owners, nonprofit founders, and community leaders with the knowledge, confidence, and connections to thrive — because when we all do better, we all do better.
At its core, Urban Enterprise blends three pillars of progress:
- The Business Journal — a publication dedicated to telling the stories of founders, changemakers, and innovators driving economic growth in their communities.
- The Network — a curated ecosystem of entrepreneurs, professionals, and social impact leaders who collaborate, learn, and rise together.
- The Community — an online hub where members access coaching, training, accountability circles, and peer support to bring their visions to life.
Together, these pillars form an ecosystem — part media platform, part mastermind network, and part movement — all focused on one shared purpose: advancing inclusive prosperity through entrepreneurship.
Our Why
Urban Enterprise was created for the dreamers who never stopped believing — for the entrepreneurs building from their kitchen tables, the community leaders doing more with less, and the visionaries determined to create opportunity where none existed before.
We believe the future of our economy will be shaped not by billion-dollar corporations, but by purpose-driven founders who see problems as opportunities and business as a tool for social change.
Urban Enterprise exists to
equip them with the tools, mindset, and community they need to succeed — because one thriving founder can shift the trajectory of a family, a neighborhood, and an entire generation.
Our Mission
To power inclusive prosperity by equipping entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, and changemakers in underrepresented communities with the education, resources, and ecosystem they need to build sustainable success — personally, professionally, and economically.
We do this through storytelling, training, coaching, and community collaboration that turns vision into enterprise and enterprise into impact.
